"I've been having saxophone lessons with Jane for just over 4 years. I started as a total beginner, and thanks to her careful tutoring, I now play in an amateur orchestra and two bands.
I thought teaching may come to an end when the pandemic struck, but Jane simply embraced Zoom and took her teaching online. It's a very different experience, but the quality remains the same. Highly recommended."

Jane’s approach to teaching the saxophone is original, humorous and responsive to cues from the learner. I have played in one of her sax groups since January and it was good fun. I felt challenged and encouraged in equal measure. Since lockdown I have had some individual and group lessons with Jane and she has thoughtfully adapted her methods to virtual teaching.

Jane has taught me the clarinet for some years. I always feel that I have learnt something when the lesson finishes and feel encouraged and happy to progress more.
I also really enjoy the wind group sessions that Jane runs. The arrangements are really good and it is a joy to be part of this group.

Jane taught me alto saxophone as part of a group and I consider her to be excellent. She is very keen, conscientious and experienced and brought us all together as a group being conscious of the differing levels of ability of us as pupils. Recommend her to pupils of any ability.

Jane leads our group with great sensitivity and caring. She is always coming up with new material with all the parts for our group. The group is always fun and all of us love playing in it.

I play in Jane’s woodwind group and when we were unable to continue our weekly meetings due to the Coronavirus Jane organised a weekly Zoom call. I really appreciated how Jane used technology during lockdown to keep the group making music. I’ve learnt so much from Jane and my confidence in my playing has increased immensely. I cannot recommend Jane highly enough and I feel very fortunate to be part of her woodwind group.Tricia East Grinstead

My son’s saxophone teacher, Jane Tuff, radiates an enthusiasm for music and her students that flows generously, even via the internet! When we were plunged into lockdown, she didn’t miss a beat in seamlessly transitioning my 12 year old Grade 4 saxophone candidate to remote lessons via Zoom. We are very grateful. Being able to continue with music study in our current environment maintains normality, and this is a real blessing. Furthermore, although remote learning is a different experience than learning face to face, the pace of progress has not slowed. In some ways, it actually is more efficient as lessons can be more easily managed around a student’s academic schedule. Even after face to face lessons are once again able to resume at school, we will opt to remain with the flexibility of Jane’s Zoom lesson offering.

I have been a clarinet pupil of Ms. Jane Tuff for the best part of a year. As an adult student (Grade 5), she invited me to join her group playing Clarinet Quartet pieces. Jane introduced us to a broad genre of pieces including classic (Chopin, Bach), musicals (My Fair Lady, Oliver) as well as Scott Joplin.
The group lessons have been good fun, usually meeting at the Jubilee Centre and using Zoom during Lockdown. Jane ensures that each player is included and given individual attention. Her tuition skills are excellent and are delivered with humour in a relaxed environment. She has a kind and caring nature and it is privilege to be one of her pupils.

As a returning player trying to get to grips with jazz chords, I tried several tutors that were fantastic players but not great teachers. Teaching music is an art, and Jane is brilliant at it. She is very patient and manages to untangle and simplify confusing concepts. She takes time to understand how her student's learn and what they want out of their lessons, which is fantastic as we all learn differently and have our own goals.
Thank you Jane. You took a very despondent and confused player and turned me around and gave me the confidence to progress.

I have been enjoying lessons on alto sax with Jane for 3 months. Her tuition style is friendly and encouraging. With good progress I am already playing uplifting swing tunes, such fun!
Online lessons work perfectly for me. We listen to each other, discuss my progress, and play together, in comfort at home. I download pieces which Jane also sends as audio files, invaluable for practice.
I so look forward to my lesson, it is the highlight of my week!
